THE COLUMBIA RIVER

October 16, 1805

Heading for the Columbia
River from the Snake River,
we knew it would be hard and
dangerous. There was much
delay due mostly to canoes
tipping. Because of this, we lost
many of our goods, let alone
some of the men themselves.
Slowly but surely, the Snake
River had finally branched out
to the Columbia River.
